United Nations
In November 2018, the Pink Chicken Project went to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, at the COP-14 meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt. Intervening in the assembly, the project held a statement describing the possible future of pink chickens, urging the parties to think more long-term about the implications of their decisions.
FABRICA RESEARCH CENTRE | other worlding
What does embodying ‘otherness’ mean, and how can we design ecological actions that blur boundaries between self and other? Can we design entrances to nonhuman worlds that enable curiosity and empathy for other ways of being? On January 2023 Nonhuman Nonsense hosted a 3-day workshop “Portals into Nonhuman Worlds” as part of Fabrica’s residency program. The workshop concluded with a lecture about their design practice told through 5 projects, their intentions, way of working and the reverberations.
GALERIE iM TURM | HAUNTED WATERS
Contaminants are substances that due to different factors have ended up in our waters. Just like ghosts, they are invisible to the naked eye, relate to local historical events and are trapped in places where they aren’t meant to be. Mercury, Nitrates, PFAS, drug residues and other ghostly contaminants haunt not only our bodies of water but also the hallways of our internal organs. In this workshop, we attempted to make the invisible contaminants visible, by entering our bodies, visualising the ghosts, sharing their stories, and reflecting on what they teach us about our own existence.
MU HYBRID ART HOUSE | BAD SPECIAL WEEKEND
On the Bio-Art & Design special weekend on March 2023, MU was adding additional content and engaging depth to the exhibition Beyond Borders and Binaries with a public program. In this workshop, an experimental deity practice was conducted. The participants activated the space by going through an interactive rite of passage that also included a guided visualization meditation, writing exercises and sculpting votive offerings.
Stiftung Kunst und Natur | verbindungen
“Turn to Stone” at VerBindungen festival 2022
In this interactive presentation, participants were getting to know their underestimated and often ignored neighbours – the stones!
Nonhuman Nonsense presented their project Planetary Personhood – A Universal Declaration of Martian Rights and used it as a starting point for a series of exercises. Together they were looking for a way to enter the worlds of stones.
GOGBOT CONFERENCE 2019, by Next Nature Network
“The GOGBOT Conference 2019, curated by Next Nature Network, delves into bio-tech development and examines what it means to be human in the technological age, by looking at a future with biotechnology. We wonder, is it going to be a dream or a nightmare?”
diffrakt | centre for theoretical periphery
Diffrakt is a collectively-run non-profit organization striving to foster theory in familiar and unfamiliar settings and formats. In this workshop, Nonhuman Nonsense discussed the motivation and research for Planetary Personhood, drawing on writings by Karen Barad, Jane Bennett, and Elizabeth Povinelli.

INTERVIEWS
DESIGN+POSTHUMANISM NETWORK
A network of designers and scholars engaging with critical posthumanism via design practices, education, and research.
Nonhuman Nonsense are members of the network and were micro-interview by Johanna Mehl about their practice, day-to-day and engagement with critical posthumanism.
Future based
Future Based is an interdisciplinary philosophy platform facilitated by Sabine Winters. They zoom in on the complicated, and make the common extraordinary through podcasts, meetups, reading groups and exhibitions.
In the podcast “The Paradox of Anthropomorphism” in the series ‘Beyond Human Relations, Annika van den Born goes into conversation with Nonhuman Nonsense about how they transmute our relationship to the non-human, by embracing the contradictory and the paradoxical.
Next Nature magazine
The Next Nature Magazine is for anyone interested in the changing relationship between people, nature and technology. The magazine offers a unique perspective on—and with—the people, ideas and technologies that shape our world.
Nonhuman Nonsense was interviewed about their practice and methodology, titled “Talking Nonhuman Nonsense”.
Speculative EDU
Based on the urgent need for an upgrade related to speculative design educational practice, the SpeculativeEdu project is oriented towards novel educational skills and practices for the 21st century, especially those focused on the critical relations between technology and people (society).
Nonhuman Nonsense was interviewed about how their practice is placed in the speculative design landscape.

JOURNAL OF POSTHUMANISM
Journal of Posthumanism is an international multilingual peer-reviewed scholarly journal promoting innovative work to transverse the fields ranging from social sciences, humanities, and arts to medicine and STEM. In line with the efforts of creating a broad network beyond disciplinary boundaries, the journal seeks to explore what it means to be human in this technologically-saturated, ecologically damaged world, and transcend the traditional conception of the human while encouraging philosophical thinking beyond humanism.
We wrote an academic paper about the Pink Chicken Project!
